Valerie Hart Nelson, contralto, is a versatile artist, and enjoys performing a wide variety of repertoire. Recent performances include Mozart’s Requiem in Belle-Ile, France, Mahler’s 2nd Symphony, Handel’s Isreal in Eygpt, Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Scarlatti’s Magdalena and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.

Ms. Nelson has also performed a wide variety of Operatic roles. Recent season have seen performances concert performances with Nashville Opera, The title role of Carmen and Dame Quickly in Falstaff with Utah Lyric Opera; Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Madame Armfeldt in A Little Night Music and La tasse chinoise in L’enfant et les sortileges with the Castleton Festival under the baton of Maestro Lorin Maazel; Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor with Central City Opera; 2nd Lady in The Magic Flute with Utah Opera; The Duchess in The Gondoliers, Eulalie in The Music Man, Aldonza in Man of La Mancha, Ida in Die Fledermaus.  She also created the role of the Nanny in Robert Ward’s A Friend of Napoleon within two seasons of Ohio Light Opera.
